When an industry is composed of a very large number of firms, each of which is very small, then CR4 is close to zero, and the less concentrated is the industry
When four or fewer firms produce all of an industry’s output, CR4 is 1, the more concentrated is the industry and consequently it is alleged that there is very little competition in the industry
